What do an online video game, a homemade guitar, and a woodbot named “Bob” have in common? They’re all Make Academy projects to be featured September 21st through September 22nd at the biggest DIY event ever to hit New York City: Maker Faire 2013! Stop by the Maker Space tent to interact with tables upon tables of inspiring crafts, made by local middle schoolers over the summer. And take the opportunity to make your own at one of our four interactive woodworking workshops. We’ll also be hosting weekend-long walk-up activities, where you can chat with Make Academy campers while making your project. Hope to see you there!
The Maker Space is a learning environment where children, teens, adults and families can tinker, design, and create together.
In our workshops we use real tools to make real things and re-use everyday materials in exciting ways. From woodworking and plaster casting to electronics and 3D printing, we encourage experimentation, open-ended exploration, and believe that making mistakes is a great way to learn.
Our workshops are hands on and can get messy, so when you come to a class, don't wear your favorite shirt!
