Drum Making Workshop & Flash Mob!

The Maker Space @ NYSCI hosted the second ever drum making workshop followed by an impromptu flash mob drum circle!  It was incredibly fun and kids of all ages were fully engaged and collaborating in ways that even surprised us!!

It inspired a new set of foundations for developing skills that I like to call the 3 F’s… FOCUSED-FAMILY-FUN.  Please spread the word because I believe they can supplement or even possibly replace the 3 R’s- Reading, Righting & Rythmatic…wait is that right? I think it might be Reading, Writing & Arithmetic…that doesn’t seem right either?!?  Anyway, check out this video, and and if you want to see the first ever NYSCI Flash Mob Drum Circle click here.  It is equally as Awesome!!

The Maker Space is a learning environment where children, teens, adults and families can tinker, design, and create together.

In our workshops we use real tools to make real things and re-use everyday materials in exciting ways. From woodworking and plaster casting to electronics and 3D printing, we encourage experimentation, open-ended exploration, and believe that making mistakes is a great way to learn.

Our workshops are hands on and can get messy, so when you come to a class, don't wear your favorite shirt!
